Apprenticeships Victoria (AV) is a new division within the Victorian Department of Education and Training that delivers highly innovative skills and training programs to meet the growing needs of the construction sector and other critical industries.

Recognising the importance of the apprenticeship pathway in reducing skills shortages, Apprenticeships Victoria is fostering connections for employers and industry, working to increase quality, innovation and support, and overseeing programs such as Big Build Apprenticeships.

Apprenticeships Victoria is helping Victorian apprentices and trainees to kick-start their careers on some of the state’s largest projects, including the new Footscray Hospital, North East Link and the Warrnambool Learning and Library Hub.

We’re offering life-changing opportunities to young Victorians just starting out in the workforce.

But we’re also here for people who are looking to reskill and make a fresh start in their careers.

We ensure Victorians from all backgrounds are supported on their pathway to a rewarding career.

Apprenticeships Victoria oversees the $8 million Apprenticeship Innovation Fund (AIF) – projects that encourage people from under-represented groups including indigenous, disabled, CALD, youth justice and women.

This fund includes $5 million dedicated to Women In Apprenticeships, which has recently identified 10 specific schemes to attract women into traditionally male-dominated trades.
